The organizers said on Friday that the WTA event in Limoges has been canceled due to the coronavirus measures taken by the Australian Open.

Originally the competition was scheduled to be held from 14th to 20th December, was directly influenced by the mandatory two-week coronavirus quarantine personnel, who must be respected before being allowed to enter Australia.

Players who want to participate in the Australian Open, which will start next year on  18 January, may have to reach Down Under as early as mid-December if they want to participate in the first Grand Slam tournament of the tennis season.

Limoges organizers said that the quarantine rules make it possible for them to miss the world's 150 best players, so they cannot guarantee high-level events.

The cancellation means there are only two WTA events until the end of the season. Ostrava will start on Monday, and the Linz Championship will take place from 9th to 15th November.
