The tennis world has shocked after the announcement of Daniel Medvedev that he has undergone surgery and may miss the French Open.

The U.S. Open champion is expected to miss one or two months after undergoing surgery for a hernia, putting him at serious risk of missing the French Open.

On Saturday, world number two tweeted that he had been dealing with a "small hernia" for the past few months and required surgery.

Medvedev's said in the post that with my team, I have decided to do some troubleshooting to fix the problem.

Maybe I am out from the game for a couple of months and will work hard to be back on the court soon.

Medvedev will miss the upcoming Grand Slam at Roland Garros which will commence on 22 May.

After losing in the first round of his first four appearances in Paris, he has reached the French Open quarterfinal last year.
