Every year, the WTA Charleston Open takes place in Charleston, South Carolina, serving as a professional tennis tournament exclusively for women. This tournament is affiliated with the WTA Tour and typically occurs in April.

Since 2001, the Charleston Open tournament has been played on green clay courts. It originated in 1973 and has been sponsored by Volvo Car USA. At present, the tournament hosts both singles and doubles draws. Numerous elite players such as Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Venus Williams, Justine Henin, Serena Williams, and Caroline Wozniacki have claimed victory at the Charleston Open.

Madison Keys holds the title of reigning champion, having emerged victorious in the tournament held in 2019. Unfortunately, the tournament scheduled for 2020 had to be called off owing to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The tournament took place at the Credit One Bank Stadium, located on Daniel Island, in 2022. Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy the sport while being entertained by the stadium's seating capacity of up to 10,200 fans.
