The Hangzhou Open is a new event on the 2024 ATP Tour schedule it will happen from September 18–24, 2024, in Hangzhou. The Zhuhai Championships, an ATP 250 competition in China, was scheduled to relocate from Zhuhai to Hangzhou in May 2024. Yibing Wu, one of the top Chinese tennis players, was born in Hangzhou.

Hangzhou's total population is approximately 13- million, situated just 200 kilometers away from Shanghai, the host of the Shanghai Masters. The tournament's relocation was influenced by the impressive Hangzhou Olympics Sports Centre.
