The Hamburg European Open 2023 is the world's oldest men’s tennis tournament, and it is part of the ATP World Tour, but this Season it will be the men's and women's tournament. The WTA competition will start from 23 July – to 29 July 2023, and the ATP tournament will start from 24 July – to 30 July 2023. The ATP and WTA are clay-court competitions that will be held again this year at the Am Rothenbaum in Hamburg, Germany, and will be partially updated before the start of the event. The 2023 Hamburg European Open is the 116th edition German Open Tennis Championships and part of the ATP World Tour 500 series and WTA 250 Series.

In 1892 it was opened and since 1924 it has been at Rothenbaum. The winner received approximately 350,000 euros. The Hamburg European Open enters the ATP 500 category and there are 32 players participating in the main singles field and 16 players participating in the qualifying rounds. 

The Rothenbaum has a long tradition of top international tennis through the Hamburg European Open as a European championship, leading to a successful future.

Around 60,000 spectators came to experience the arduous German Open competition at the largest tennis court in Germany in 2017.

In the past, a few international superstars like Roger Federer and Raphael Nadal battled for the coveted ATP points. The 2019  famous names are Dominic Thiem, Fabio Fognini, and Philipp Kohlschreiber.
